What Gives?


Alright, so I’m not typically a politically involved person. I tend to hate politics in fact – but, when something happens in our community and we’re upset over it why is the first instinct to attack?

Pride Toronto made a decision last week to censor Queers Against Israeli Apartheid and their signage/messages from their annual parade. This decision was made so that Pride could continue to be celebrated in the city of Toronto, one of the most culturally diverse and accepting cities in the world. The decision has caused so much bullshit political backlash that I am personally appalled – to the point where even me, as a politics hating entity, has decided to make a comment.

My comment is this:

All political bullsh!t aside. The bottom line is: if we wanted to continue celebrating Pride in Toronto a decision had to be made. Without it, there would most likely be no Pride celebration in Toronto at all. Be glad you still have something to fight over…
