Imagine being gay and not receiving all of the rights and privileges that a heterosexual does, at the same time being encouraged to put your life on the line by joining the military to defend the very country that denies you those rights.  Fucked up right!?

Unfortunately, for many, it’s a reality.

Imagine my swelling of national pride when, walking down Church St. the other day, I came across a young strapping fellow decked out in fatigues with a rainbow flag tucked into his gear.

He told me he was new to the Canadian Armed Forces… the rainbow flag, a source of pride, not shame.

This is yet another reason why I’m so proud to be Canadian!

Oh sweet baby Hebus! First it’s American Idol. But let’s face it, it’s the worst of the worst that make that show fun.
