When I think Tom Ford, I think of the golden age of Gucci.  Classic, clean, sophistication.  But all good things… and the time came for Tommy to move on to other things.

Which brings us to his directorial debut ‘A Single Man’.  I’m not a movie critic, but I do have thoughts and opinions.

The movie, set in the 60′s, is wonderfully stylized.  It’s always amazing to me, the details that goes into every outfit, hairstyle and store front to capture the essence of an era.  And this movie does not let down.

Rarely do we get an opportunity, as a queer audience, to really connect with a romantic story unfolding before us on the big screen.  How refreshing to have the main character a gay man, a nice, normal gay man.  One we can relate to.  One in a relationship with another man.  Gone are the days when gay men were only stereotypical gay side kicks with gelled hair, a belly T and lisping his way thru benign cringe inducing comments like ‘Oh gurrrl, you know I don’t drive automatic… I only drive STICK!’

Tom, my one constructive criticism would be: tighten it up a little.

But if you, like me, enjoy a GOOD gay movie.  Then don’t miss.

P.S.  Julianne Moore is FAN-FUCKIN-TASTIC in this!
